D-Mannose is a carbohydrate very similar to glucose, yet it is not readily metabolized by our bodies like glucose. Simply put, D-Mannose is just sugar, but not the type of sugar you are used to. In a similar way, the D-Mannose occupies the lectins so that they are unable to hold on to the wall of the urinary track and the microrganisims are flushed right out of the body during urination. I'm a 3 year Breast Cancer survivor on Tamoxifen (hormone suppressant). One of the many side effects of this drug is persistent and recurring UTIs. I was at a loss. I have been paralysed from the chest down since 1982, following a motorcycle accident in which I sustained spinal cord injuries. Continence Management became more difficult and complicated with ageing and when I moved over to sell catheterisation some 12 years ago. Repeated uti s became common.
